Maintenance
Starting June 2, we are launching a pilot to make university e-mail more secure. From now on, there will be a warning in an email when it comes from someone outside UU. The purpose of the warning is to be extra alert to the legitimacy of an email at those times.
Warning
The new warning appears at the top of an email you receive when the sender has an email address that does not end in @uu.nl or @students.uu.nl. It reads (in a yellow box):
“CAUTION: This email originated from outside of Utrecht University. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.”
Many organizations already use such a warning. So you may well have seen such a notice in emails before.
Pilot at ITS in June
Before this security is turned on for everyone at UU, we want to test it first in a pilot. The pilot will start June 2 and last throughout the month of June. Every ITS employee is in the pilot. Some individuals from faculty are also participating. Do you know a colleague outside of ITS who would also like to join the pilot? They can sign up at https://forms.microsoft.com/e/0XKtbhBKmX.
Share your experience and findings
Your questions, experience and findings are important to us during this period as we use them to resolve any problems. You can let us know by sending an e-mail to testandqualityservices@uu.nl.
Kind regards,
ICT Service Desk
